Misconceptions

Page history last edited by Nathan 1 yr ago

All Chinese students are good at math. Americans are loud. The "Happy Birthday" song sounds the same everywhere.

Misconceptions, stereotypes, and beliefs - large and small - exist everywhere. We hope to get our experiences with them out in the open and see how they change over time.

Please contribute two things to the ongoing lists below:

Misconceptions - What intrigues you about people from the "outside" (whether outside your home, your hometown, your country)? What do you think they don't quite understand about you?

Changing Minds - What is one thing, large or small, that you changed your mind about in the past year? What led you to change it?

To add your thoughts you need to log in. Then, click Edit at the top and leave your reply below each section below (or, click Comments and leave your thoughts as a single comment -- we'll integrate them into the page when you're done). Please list your first name (or pseudonym), age, and city.

Misconceptions

The global nomads group is creating an Encyclopedia of Misconceptions, a printed book full of people's misconceptions and their experiences with them. Please leave a short thought about the questions below and submit your experience to global nomads group for possible inclusion in the Encyclopedia.

Changing Minds

One aim of this project is to help individuals and communities recognize times when their thinking has changed. Whether from a good movie or a conversation with friend, this is a cross-cultural some ways that minds have changed.
